How viruses spread in offices- INCUBSENCE

Even if one surface is compromised, a virus can infect entire office in the matter of few hours.

Millions of employees in India have asked to Work from home as per government directive to stop the spread of coronavirus in offices. People does a lot to their offices which is more like a second home as they spend time at work desk, gossips in the cafeteria, or go out for a post lunch walk.

Work desks are so personal, that people have photos of parents, wife and kids, they also light up with some cool stuff, some have some motivational quotes stick to desk to keep them going while the work puts them under pressure. The 21 days of much required lockdown in India was a sudden shock to majority of the employees, leaving them in the state of confusion on how to work from home?

Banning offices was not just about spread of Coronavirus but the spread of infections in offices in general as offices are the hotspot of spread of infections in our lives. Every season, a person with flu or flu like symptoms like sneezing, coughing will office and will infect colleagues making a lot of employees sneeze while they work, thus the office is infected in the matter of hours. Every season this happens and I am sure you can relate to it.

Many research conducted across the globe clearly manifest that offices are the hot beds for viruses and bacterias and that the spread of infection is offices is quick and easy.

So what are the commonly infected surfaces in offices? In simple words, those which are highly touched. The more colleague touch the infected surface, the more is the threat of spread of contamination from these surfaces. Biometric attendance devices, refrigerators, push-out exit doors, drawer handles, faucet handles, and coffee pots are highly concentrated from the contamination.

study by the researchers of American Society of Microbiology found out that the coffee break rooms was the first area to contaminate when they placed a harmless virus on the single doorknob or table top in an office building. The virus reached out to 40% to 60% of workers, visitors and commonly touch objects within few hours.

Biometric attendance machines, refrigerators, coffee machines, coffee pots, drawers handles, and faucet handles are some of the commonly touched objects in the offices and hence highly infected.

But the only way viruses can grow within bodies is when you touch your face with hands. That means to become sick you have to consume bacterias and virus. It is the case of Coronavirus as well, even if coronavirus is in your hands, to bring in your body you have to consume it by touch your face.

That's the reason why biometric attendance system was suspended in companies and govt. offices. The demand as of today is to deploy the non-touch attendance system so the most infected surface that is biometric attendance shall be permanently eradicated from the office.
